Tech Tip 18: How To Install Fonts

Posted on: February 14, 2009

Whether you’re a designer, a writer, or just a fanatic about fonts, there are so many websites on the Internet that allow you to install many different kinds of fonts for free. Here’s a list of some of the cool websites with nice fonts:

1. http://www.1001freefonts.com

2. http://www.dafont.com

3. www.freefonts.com

4. http://www.urbanfonts.com

5. simplythebest.net/fonts/

6. http://www.downloadfreefonts.com

7. http://www.acidfonts.com

When you download the fonts you want, you get files with .ttf extensions. Its very easy to install these fonts: just copy the .ttf files and paste them into the fonts folder which you can navigate to from C drive. – C:\Windows\Fonts. That’s the only thing you have to do. Now if you open MS Word and put in some text, you’ll be able to see the newly added fonts in the ‘edit font’ drop-down list.

Go have a look at the websites above and let us know which fonts you like the best!
